Chicago LASIK eye surgeryLife in Chicago doesn't allow for extra time to tend to your misplaced glasses, the missed train because you couldn't read the schedule or for any slowdowns related to vision problems. LASIK eye surgery can be very beneficial in restoring your vision, and restoring your life. When you opt for this surgery, it is important to know that Dr. Richard B. Foulkes recommends that you have a ride arranged to go home after the procedure. But why?

  • Light Sedative: On the day of your LASIK procedure, Dr. Foulkes will administer a light oral sedative. This will help you to relax and stay calm during your eye surgery. However, once your procedure is completed, you will still feel some of the effects of the anesthetic.
  • Eye Sensitivity: Due to the medication and the overall procedure that reshapes your eye's cornea, your eyes will be sensitive to your surrounding environment. This can impede your normal driving ability.
  • Vision: Directly following your LASIK eye surgery, you may experience blurry or impaired vision as your eyes adjust. This side effect is common as it takes time for your eyes to fully heal from the procedure.

Driving yourself home after your LASIK eye surgery can be dangerous and is not recommended. If you cannot arrange for someone to drive you home, our office offers patients up to $50 in reimbursement for using Uber to take you home on the day of your eye surgery. The amount will be deducted from the total surgical fee.
